Examples of specific items include:

Rental: 3 bedroom house (unfurnished) with garden, 3km from city centre - AUD$300-400/week. See our page on accomodation around Adelaide.

Car purchase: Most people, especially those with families, purchase a car for their time here. We have a reliable contact in the automotive industry, who can source reliable cars and will but them at the end of your time. If you want to take out a loan, the bank can easily organise that in advance. The consensus is that you really need to spend a minmum of $8000 to get a vehicle that is reliable and can be readily bought back.

Salaries

Salaries vary according to the position offered and seniority. As a guide, a specialist in a Fellowship position might attract an income equivalent to AUD$100,000-150,000 annually, with tax rates of around 40-45%. Staff specialist salary scales, and loadings for specific groups (which currently includes anaesthetists) are based around the State award, and are available on request.

Transport

Adelaide is a low density city, and public transport networks are less established than in many European cities. Bus and rail services and bicycling are feasible for commuting to work.

A car is essential for travel further afield. We have access to reliable car dealers who will find a reliable vehicle, and will repurchase the vehicle on departure. For this to work successfully, it is necessary to purchase something for around AUD$8,000 or more. This system has been in place for many years, and works very successfully, with the dealers relying on repeat business from us.
