Employment Opportunities

A range of positions exist throughout the Network, availability varies over time. Positions are offered on a full-time and part-time basis. Medical indemnity cover is provided through the government. The positions are outlined below. Expressions of interest can be made through the following link.

Staff specialist positions - anaesthesia/pain medicine

Positions in anaesthesia may be at a single hospital or, by arrangement, at more than one hospital to provide access to a range of clinical activities. Some positions can, by arrangement, provide access to work outside Adelaide, through affiliations with rural hospitals. Some positions may also incorporate work in pain medicine or hyperbaric medicine, by arrangement.

Fellowship positions

A range of Fellowship positions are offered, with access to a variety of specialist interests. All positions provide opportunities to be employed to participate in research and teaching activities.

Senior trainees

Fellowship positions are offered to senior trainees in anaesthesia from Australian and overseas, in neuroanaesthesia, regional anaesthesia, cardiac anaesthesia, pain medicine, head and neck/craniofacial surgery, simulation medicine.

Overseas specialists

Fellowship positions are available for 1-2 years for overseas specialists to participate in clinical work in Adelaide, with paid time to participate in research activities or to gain experience in subspecialist areas. Some positions are offered to allow individuals paid time and support to sit for the exams for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, as part of the process for permanent relocation conducted by the Australian Medical Council for overseas trained doctors.

Registrars

Positions are offered in South Australia in the Statewide training program for the Diploma of the Australian and New College of Anaesthetists. 

Residents (RMOs)

A limited number of positions are offered which provide some exposure to anaesthesia at a junior level.
